It’s official, Christmas is coming and London is crammed full of festive activities! Take advantage of the fun that is right on your doorstep, and don’t miss my top five must-do’s in the capital:
Visit The Southbank Centre Wintertime Festival:
Right in the heart of the city, the Southbank centre comes into its own in the festive season with its Wintertime Festival. It is transformed into a Nordic inspired wonderland with wooden chalets, festive food, a Christmas market, snow-shows, Nordic crafts and family entertainment. The best bit? The Queen Elizabeth Roof Gardens become home to a Finnish sauna which overlooks the river and London skyline. Complete with warm blankets and even warmer winter drinks to sip on afterwards. The dream.
Embrace The Food Coma:
December means one thing: Christmas specials. And London certainly knows how to do damn good festive food. Meat lovers can indulge in festive burgers at Meat Liquor or Chick N Sours; and vegetarians can enjoy a sprout pizza at Yard Sale Pizza. I personally can’t wait to tuck into the Doughnut Time Christmas rings including the nutella filled “Treat your Elves” and the vegan “Jolly AF” – amongst others.
Visit Winterville:
Winter Wonderland is intense. I personally find the crowds pretty overwhelming, so this year I will be opting for the slightly quieter but equally epic Winterville in Clapham common. There are a whole host of attractions there including rides, food stalls, a roller disco, an ice rink, golf, a backyard cinema and so much more. It’s not to be missed!
Ice Skate:
If you live in London, you’ve got to do this! The two most popular locations are Somerset house and the Natural History museum. Christmas songs are playing and you ice skate around a Christmas tree with a bunch of strangers – might sound a little odd, but feels extremely festive! Plus you can warm up with some mulled wine afterwards.
The Winter Secret Garden:
Come December, Tobacco Dock becomes home to the hidden Winter Secret Garden. The willow trees are lit up with sparkling Christmas lights as you enter an evening of Victorian splendour. Drinks, a four course meal, street performers, dancers, acrobats and more await you. The night ends with dodgems and a disco under the fairy lights before a final midnight feast. Epic!
Merry Christmas,
Zanna x
