I get asked an awful lot about what I use on my skin, so today I am going to talk you through my top five skincare saviours. But first…let me set the scene. My skin is combination and blemish-prone. I have a lot of hyper pigmentation and acne scars so my focus is on balancing my skin, preventing future breakouts and reducing dark spots. I am not afraid to spend money on the products I put on my face, so most of these aren’t budget friendly – sorry about that!
Pai Perfect Balance Moisturiser and Serum
I recently got introduced to Pai skincare by my friend Meg and I am a complete convert. I strongly believe that changing the majority of my regime to Pai has made the biggest difference to my complexion. My two hero products are the Perfect Balance moisturiser and serum. After I’ve washed my face I simply apply the serum, let it sink in for about 3-4 minutes and then massage in the moisturiser. This combination leaves my skin feeling nourishing, balanced and calm.
Origins Super Spot Remover
This stuff is a game changer if you’re prone to a cheeky breakout. If you have a blemish brewing under the surface then dab some of this on before bed and by the morning it will have worked its magic. It has a gel like consistency and is pretty drying, so be selective with where you apply it.
Malin and Goetz Resurfacing Glycolic Pads
I would go as far as saying that these face pads are a holy grail product for me. They are absolutely incredible and have completely transformed my skin and significantly reduced my acne scarring. Basically, they are small thin face pads which are saturated with a glycolic acid – a chemical exfoliant. After I have washed my face, I wipe one of these pads over my skin (avoiding my eye area) and let the acid sink in. I leave it on to do its thing for about 10 minutes and then wash it off before applying my serum and moisturiser. It leaves my skin silky smooth. I use these maximum once a week as they’re pretty intense!
REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask
This is similar to the face pads, but slightly more gentle. It is basically a resurfacing mask which helps to exfoliate, remove dead skin cells, minimise blocked pores and reduce hyper pigmentation. I apply it for about 10-20 minutes and then gently wipe it off with a warm damp muslin cloth before applying my serum and moisturiser. I use this twice a month and feel an immediate different in my skins surface afterwards. Make sure you pop some SPF on the day after you use a mask like this.
My biggest skincare secret though… one which is much more important than any product, is to nourish your body with nutrient dense foods. Focus on getting in a variety of fruits and veggies as well as an abundance of water. I find that if I eat poorly or allow myself to get dehydrated for a few days I will immediately get new breakouts. Whereas if my diet is on point, my skin is at its best. No amount of skincare products will solve acne that comes as a result of a poor nutrition, so focus on what you’re putting in your body before you start splashing the cash on expensive spot treatments.
I know this post is a little different from my fitness, lifestyle and travel posts but I hope you liked it!
