How To Spend A Day In Notting Hill: A Locals Guide

Notting Hill is one of London’s most iconic neighbourhoods, but planning how to spend a day there can be a little overwhelming when there’s so much to see and do! To make it easier, I’ve pulled together my personal one-day itinerary, filled with my favourite spots, hidden gems, and must-visit streets. Consider this your local-approved guide to the perfect Notting Hill day out.

The Practicalities

Start Your Day at Layla Bakery

The perfect spot for your morning caffeine fix. This modern, airy, and aesthetic bakery serves up seriously good coffee and freshly baked treats. My top pick is definitely the dark chocolate pistachio pain au chocolat, it’s absolutely incredible!

Wander the Colourful Streets

Once you’re sufficiently caffeinated, take a slow stroll down Lancaster Road, Colville Terrace, and Elgin Crescent – some of the most photogenic streets in London. The pastel townhouses are iconic and make the perfect backdrop for a quick photo (or five).

Explore Portobello Road Market

Next up, head towards Portobello Road Market. It’s a sensory overload in the best possible way: vintage cameras, antique watches, old maps, unique interior pieces, and stacks of secondhand books. Don’t miss the charity shops and vintage boutiques dotted along the side streets, they’re full of hidden gems if you’re willing to rummage.

Grab Brunch or Lunch at Sunday in Brooklyn

When hunger hits, make your way to Sunday in Brooklyn, the Notting Hill outpost of the New York favourite. The vibe is lively, the decor is beautiful, and the menu has something for everyone ranging from sweet stacks of pancakes to wholesome salads and grain bowls.

Browse Westbourne Grove

After brunch, wander over to Westbourne Grove for some high-end, high-street browsing. Think Reformation, Sézane, Aesop, Free People, lots of dreamy brands all in one place. Even if you’re not shopping, it’s a lovely area to browse, people-watch, and soak up the Notting Hill atmosphere.

Treat Yourself at Creme London

Once you’ve walked off brunch, it’s time for something sweet. Head to Crème London for one of their famous chunky cookies. My go-to is the white chocolate miso, it’s warm, gooey, and slightly salty. Absolute perfection in my opinion!

Stroll through Holland Park

Why not take your cookie and wander through Holland Park? It’s one of London’s most peaceful green spaces, with leafy paths, Japanese gardens, and plenty of benches for a mid-afternoon break. It is well worth taking a wander before you wrap up your day.

End the day at Churchill Arms

Finish your Notting Hill adventure with a drink at The Churchill Arms, one of London’s most famous pubs. Covered head-to-toe in flowers, it’s almost impossible to walk past without stopping. Order a pint or a G&T, soak up the atmosphere, and toast to a day well spent in one of London’s prettiest neighbourhoods.
